HP has sped up their business notebooks by adding the Core 2 Duo chip across the line. Besides better speed and performance, the 64-bit processors also offer better power management which can extend the life of a battery between charges.

Three different classes of HP business notebooks will get the boost under the hood. The first is the high performance line. This includes the HP Compaq 9400 with its 17-inch widescreen and four-hour battery life. The HP Compaq 8400 offers high power graphics that rivals a desktop.

The balanced mobility business notebooks will also get the upgrade. The HP Compaq nx7400 is a widescreen designed for price-conscious buyers. The HP Compaq 6300 and the nc6400 offer different mobile broadband options to keep connected away from a hotspot.

The HP Compaq 4400 is an ultra-light notebook which can be converted to a tablet PC. Like all of the other options, it is available now with the Core 2 Duo.

Starting prices range from $849 for the nx7400 to $1479 for the lightweight 4400.
