Boasting a “super bright” 15.4-inch WXGA display and a DVD Super-Multi drive, watching movies on the go is a joy, especially with the 3W subwoofer providing a cinematic “boom”. There is also a built-in digital TV tuner, as well as DVR capabilities.
The guts of the machine are quite impressive as well, with an Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) running the show, backed up by a full gig of DDR2 SDRAM and a 120GB hard drive. They make no mention of the OS, but I expect that many customers would be inclined to go for Windows Media Center.
Weighing in at 6.3 pounds and measuring 365 x 265 x 32.8 – 35.3mm, the Hitachi PN39K1S will sell for US$2,236 when it starts shipping on October 26.
