So what’s a DAP maker to do in order to provide top-quality speakers without creating a monster space problem? Samsung has solved this problem admirably by hiding the speakers inside the music player case.
We heard about the K5 last month, but now Samsung has gone official with this DAP featuring a touch-screen OLED that works either vertically or horizontally. The top part of the casing slides out to reveal the speakers underneath. When you’re not listening to your favorite tunes, the speakers hide away and the music player resembles a candy bar again.
You can play MP3s, WAV files, and other familiar formats, including Ogg and DRM. Oh, yes, you’ll find an FM radio and an alarm clock as well. The K5 comes in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB offerings, with availability and price to be determined.
