Sometimes you don’t want to deal with all those wires involved in having a set of earbuds. If you’re working out your budget and fudging around with your income tax receipts, sometimes it’s better just to have the music softly playing in the background rather than right in your ear.

Most of those iPod speaker docks, although small, are sometimes not quite portable enough, and that’s why you might want to turn to something like these mini speakers from Bird-Electron. The leather-covered sound producers are only 30mm thick, feature “micro Hi-Fi”, and are shaped like peanuts. Musical nuts, who’d have known?

They’re saying these speakers are elegant. I beg to differ, but they certainly are portable. No word on pricing, but I think it’s a Japan-only thing for now anyways.
