It’s getting better all the time to be a diabetes sufferer. Despite the constant need for insulin, there’s an ever-growing market of technological innovations to aid that process. The latest innovation is from Cambridge Consultants, and it’s a device that helps monitor glucose levels and other medical information, but it also works as an insulin pump.

The device, developed in conjunction with Philips, is actually a pair of near-field communication (NFC) devices: One is the insulin pump, and the other is a wireless glucometer. The latter determines current glucose levels and recommends how much insulin to deliver. In order to make that delivery, just wave the glucometer near the insulin pump. The pump will then deliver the proper amount of insulin into the bloodstream.

Both devices can be strapped under clothing, for the ultimate in portability and avoidance of “prying eyes.”
