Samsung integrates speaker into YP-K5 MP3 player

Samsung’s got some more innovation coming down the chute and this time it has nothing to do with slim cell phones or DMB TV. Turning to the world of digital audio players, we find the Samsung YP-K5, an attractive looking MP3 player that comes with something you don’t see every day: an integrated speaker. We’re not talking about a tiny, barely audible speaker either; it looks like it’s the same size as the player itself.

The sliding design is quite the looker, especially if you want to share your tunes, because the result is a picture frame-like easel. It’s almost like it has the whole speaker dock thing figured out, right out of the box. The sound blasting out will be loud and clear, thanks to the DNSE (Digital Natural Sound Engine) technology. On the support front, you’ll find love for MP3, WMA, and ASF files, as well as everyone’s favourite OGG.

No word on pricing, but we do know that Samsung will be offering the people of Korea 1, 2, and 4GB flavours of their YP-K5 DAP.
