Satellite radio is an amazing toy, but it doesn’t do you much good if you don’t have your satellite receiver with you. Until now, that is, thanks to a new online service called MusicDock.

It lets you listen to your satellite radio, if you have a subscription, on any mobile device that is compatible with Windows Media 9 or higher (take the Treo 700w, for example). The device also needs to have a GPRS or faster internet connection. You don’t have to install any extra software, though.

MusicDock doesn’t turn your device into a satellite receiver. Both XM and Sirius let subscribers access radio services online once they sign into their web-based account. MusicDock streams that service onto your mobile device and it’s free… for now. That may change later on if the service catches on. Unfortunately, MusicDock doesn’t work on Palm OS devices unless they have proper Windows Media support.
