Panasonic portable DVD drive burns fast

Matsushita has released a new Panasonic portable DVD drive that can burn at fast speeds via USB.

The LP-P967C has a write speed of 4x for DVD-RWs and 16x for CD-RWs. The read speed is a notch up, with DVD-RWs topping at 6x and CD-RW speeding along at 24x. Not exactly the fastest in the industry, but adequate for the everyday user.

Power for this drive is delivered through a USB cable or an AC adapter. Price is expected to be about 25,000 yen, which is about US$213 for this compact DVD burner.
