Wireless audio made easy with Oono Transmita

Not to be confused with “o noes”, some company that goes by “Oono” has just unveiled the Transmita, a device set up to wirelessly stream audio from your laptop to your high-end stereo system. The set up is about as simple as it gets. The Transmita consists of two parts: the first part plugs into the headphone jack on your laptop or any other digital audio device, and the second part finds its place in the line-in jack on your sound system.

Because it operates on the same 2.4 GHz band as your 802.11g WiFi network and a good number of cordless phones on the market, you may experience some interference and/or cut-out from time to time, which could be a pain in the you know what, especially if you’re entertaining guests.

The range is more than ample at up to 50 meters (164 feet), but bear in mind that the transmission will suffer if you’re going through walls, floors, or other signal blocking barriers.

The Transmita should be available now, with an asking price of £34.99 (US$64).
