Yahoo Go for Mobile beats Google to market

Think back, oh about 6 or 7 years ago. Yahoo! was king of the hill when it came to your web surfing needs. They had the email service, quick news headlines, and an industry leading search engine. Then along came a little giant in the making known as Google. While Yahoo may have lost significant market share, they’re not quite ready to bow out of the picture altogether. Quite the contrary in fact, because they’re beating Google to a whole new arena: the cellular phone.

The first embedded mobile service will come from Yahoo, and they’re going to plant this new propriety software into new mid-range and high-end Motorola cell phones by the first half of next year.

Dubbed Yahoo Go for Mobile, it is an all-in integrated package. Most notably, you’ll get tie-ins for your address book, Yahoo search, and your Yahoo email. A similar deal was signed with Nokia earlier this year, with the Yahoo software already available in Europe and Asia.
