Details are still pretty slim at this point, but we did manage to catch a glimpse of the new W33SA handset from the good people at Sanyo. Apparently intented for use with mobile service provider “au” (by KDDI) in Japan, this likely 3G-enabled handset is probably most notable for its huge 2.4-inch QVGA display.

Mounted on the top half of this clamshell, the big display can swivel when the phone is open, providing for the best viewing angle possible. At the same time, the display can be rotated all the way around so that it can be used while the phone is in its closed position.

Measuring 50 x 105 x 27mm and weighing 150 grams, the Sanyo W33SA also features miniSD expansion, and what appears to be a 1.3MP camera. Expect this to be a Japan-only release, at least for the time being.
