Looking for a candybar with more? I’m not talking about extra peanuts and nougat, but, like, cell phone goodies, such as 3G high speed data, a multi-megapixel camera, and maybe even some motion sensing for good measure? You’re not going to find any of that higher-tech stuff in this fairly basic OT-560a coming out of the Alcatel camp. They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but in this case, you pretty much can.

It’s a little bland on the outside, and even blander on the inside. As a successor to the OT-C550a, the OT-560a doesn’t seem to have added much in the way of new software. The WAP browser and Java games are much the same as the old phone. On the hardware end of things, they’ve upgraded the antenna and put performed “significant mechanical modifications”.

Sure, it’s got a self-timer for the camera, and it can send SMS/MMS messages, but what phone can’t these days? In any case, they haven’t announced a price point or launch date, and honestly, I don’t really care.
