Samsung is really in love with the slim form factor, not only when it comes to their latest DMB-viewing, multipixel-touting, slide-opening cell phones, but also a fair number of their other electronic devices, including MP3 players. The most recent release is the Samsung YP-Z5, a skinny flash-based digital audio player (DAP) that clearly has its sights set on a certain piece from a produce-named company.
Available in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB flavours, the 11.4mm thin Samsung YP-Z5 packs in a 1.8-inch TFT LCD for your “let’s see what other songs I have” pleasure, in addition to being able to use it for a photo slideshow. They’ve even thrown in “zoom in” and “zoom out” functionality for good measure. File support includes MP3, WMA, JPEG, and even PlaysForSure. While this version does not sport a FM tuner, you can look for the variant YP-Z5F to get your radio on.
The 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB players have hit the Korean market, and retail for about $150, $205, and $290, respectively.
