There has been a little bit of confusion over the new handset from BenQ-Siemens because Slashphone posted one set of pictures, whereas a different set of pictures was posted on the official manufacturer’s site, but I think we got it all cleared up now.

The picture you see to right is the real deal: it’s the all-new BenQ-Siemens A58 candybar. Meant to be an entry-level handset, you won’t find a whole lot of “wet your pants” kind of features on the A58. Instead, you’ll find an adequate 128 x 128 CSTN display, a mediocre 6.5 megabytes of internal storage, and a “dictating machine” capable of recordings up to 60 minutes.

What you do get is a fairly attractive “Carbon Black” or “Mercury Silver” package, complete with Bluetooth, for what will likely be a pretty good price. Look for this phone to drop — in Europe — sometime in August.
