Few things would ruin a day as quickly and as completely as having someone walk off with your iPod while you weren’t looking. If you’re the type of person who worries about that, and leaves your ipod lying around, then you might want to check out the new Targus Desktop Security Lock for iPod.

It’s a galvanized steel cable which attaches to the dock connector of an iPod and locks in place with a three number combination (you can reset the combination when you need to). The cable is 6.5 feet long, so you still have some mobility. Because the lock attaches to a dock connector, it will work with any 3G or later iPod.

The cable and lock combine to weigh just 5.5 ounces. Targus hasn’t been more specific than ‘coming soon’ when it comes to a release date, but the lock will cost $29.99 when it’s out.
