Don’t let anyone over at LG Electronics hear you say it, but the company’s new MFJM53 digital audio player (DAP) bears a striking resemblance to the iPod nano, albeit with a less memorable name and without the ever-popular click wheel. That said, the MFJM53 definitely beats the slim Apple player in at least one department (if not more), and that’s storage space, because the LG player can pack in eight gigabytes of goodies on its miniature hard drive.

But wait, there’s more. This sleek little music player supports a wide variety of audio formats, including PlaysForSure, MP3, WAV, WMA-DRM, and even the ever-elusive Ogg Vorbis. Not only that, you’ll be able to sift through your favourite photos, read some basic text files (get ready to squint), and even watch a couple of movies with the MP4 video playback capabilities. If that wasn’t enough to waste away your work day, there’s also an FM tuner, voice recorder, and FM radio recorder.

Weighing in a 88 grams, and measuring 48 x 100.7 x 14 mm, it appears that the LG MFJM53 will be a UK release at a yet to be determined price.
