Apple now sues Creative

This situation between Creative is turning in to a ridiculous soap opera. It turns out that on the very same day that Creative sued Apple for patent infringement, Apple countersued Creative. Apple claims that Creative infringed on four digital music players patents that Apple owns. Here’s the best part – before Creative filed their suit, they attempted to negotiate with Apple. At no point during those negotiations was Creative told that Apple was ready to sue them, too. A suit like this doesn’t materialize out of thin air, so Apple clearly had the suit in their back pocket while talking to Creative. You can speculate all you want about why they did that and whether it means that their case is likely strong or week, but one thing is very clear about it all – this going going to be an ugly fight, and ugly fights are fun to watch.

The Apple suit has, for some reason, has been filed in a Wisconsin court.
