Better late than never, I suppose. The NBA Playoffs are already in full swing, with the first round of match-ups already completed, but that didn’t stop Apple from inking a deal with the professional basketball league to sell video highlights to this year’s games through the iTunes Music Store.

Sure, you could just as easily hop onto any number of online sports news sites, or flip on the boob tube and watch the highlights that way, but if you’ve got to run, you can now make use of your iPod Video to stay up to date in the world of the NBA.

For the conference semi-finals and conference finals, you’ll be able to download 15-20 minute recaps, but for the championship series itself, after the final buzzer, you’ll be able to download the whole game in its entirety. Networks that are making their footage available include TNT, ABC, ESPN, and NBATV.

The 15 minute recaps will run about $2 a pop, whereas the full game downloads for the Finals are said to be offered at $6 each.
