Have you noticed how Wi-Fi is taking over the world? It’s popping up in digital cameras as a simple way to let people upload pictures without needing to cart around cables and stuff. Great idea, but unfortunately most of us have a digital camera without it. That’s where the new EyeFi card concept comes in. It’s an SD card that is Wi-Fi enabled, so you can plug in a memory card and be good to go. Anytime you find yourself within range of service you can load the pictures up to whatever service you want to use.

It’s a great idea, but you can’t rush out and buy one just yet, because they aren’t commercially available. The company which came up with them has landed some angel funding and will hopefully get them out soon. In fact, they could be available this year at a cost not much higher than a regular SD card.
