They might be calling this the Fiesta Sportvan, but I see a more versatile version of the Ford Focus hatchback. Unveiled at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham earlier this week, this commercial transport vehicle is designed for the small business owner who needs plenty of cargo space, but excellent fuel economy and the possibility of using it as a daily driver for personal use. A giant UPS truck this is not, but it will do small food outlets and supply companies a lot of good.

Under the hood you’ll find a 1.6 litre Duratorq diesel. The fuel-sipping engine puts out 150 lbs-ft of torque to get you going when you happen to be carrying a heavier load, but only 89 hp, enough to keep you out of trouble when you hit the highway. A five-speed manual transmission, 16-inch alloys, color keyed mouldings, a rear spoiler, and fog lamps are among its other features.

Continuing with the commercial/personal vehicle theme, you can order a Ford Fiesta Sportvan in either windowed or panel-van flavours. Too bad it seems like a Europe-only release, set to launch near the end of this year.
