Now that summer is just around the corner, we all know what that means. It’s time to depart from our cozy little homes and head out into the great outdoors for the annual camping trip. However, being the geeks that we are, getting back to nature also implies lugging around our Alienware gaming laptops, HTC smartphones, and Garmin portable GPS units as well, but the problem is, there aren’t any power plugs up in them trees.

Well, for a portable power source, you can choose to pick up the Sol8, a briefcase-sized device that can harness the sun’s rays and provide enough juice to power most of your small electronic needs (yes, even that “toy” of yours, and no, I don’t want to go there). Flip open the 9.5 pound briefcase to reveal a pair of solar panels. You won’t be able to run ultra-high draw electronics, but the 13W (14VDC/750mA) this can generate is enough for most of your portable gadgets.

The Sol8 solar briefcase is available now for $140.
