Lenovo has become a household name with their takeover of IBM’s hardware business, but we already know that the company is more than prepared to break into other segments of the market as well. We already heard about one of their cellular phones before – the i921 smartphone – and now they’re prepared to break in and grab 10% of the Chinese market this year. Among the eight handsets, is the entry-level i720 music phone.

As it is a rather basic phone, this dual-band GSM (900/1800) only comes with 64MB of internal memory with no slot for expansion of any kind. This is rather disappointing, considering that this is being marketed as an MP3 playing unit, and well, 64MB doesn’t go very far these days. Also bear in mind that the 64 megs on-board needs to accommodate the pictures you’ll be taking with the 1.3 megapixel camera as well.

Other features include Bluetooth, IrDA, USB, and a KingSoft English-Chinese dictionary. We’re still waiting on an announcement regarding pricing and launch date.
