The MacBook Pro line is now complete, with the addition of the 17-inch model.

It sports the new Intel Core Duo processor, running at 2.16GHz, along with a 120GB 5400 RPM hard drive and a full 1GB of RAM. The display is 1680×1050 at 17 inches across. Throw in an 8X dual-layer DVD burner and a FireWire 800 port, and you have the total package.

But that’s just the basic model. You can also upgrade to a 2GB-RAM option, with a 100GB 7200 RPM drive chaser.

Both models come with tons of cool Mac software, including the multimedia powerhouse Front Row, and a built-in iSight camera, making video creation and chats a snap.

Base price is US$2,799. The announcement also means that the PowerBook G4 in a 17-inch size is no longer on the market.
