Rewritable DVDs are just around the corner.

Some of the heads of state in the DVD industry, the DVD+RW Alliance, have given the go-ahead for a dual-layer version of the rewritable DVD technology. Soon, you will be able to use that DVD more than once.

The capacity will be a staggering 8.5GB, as is the case with write-once DVDs now. The difference will be that, like rewritable CDs, these discs will allow you to record your favorite movies again and again and again.

Still unknown are details like cost, official release date, compatibility with current DVD burners, etc.
