Going on a vacation is supposed to be a fun experience, one filled with the laughter and smiles. The next time you rent a car, you don’t have to be disappointed with a bleh-worthy Ford Focus or a people-moving Dodge Caravan, because you can hop over to the Hertz booth to pick the Shelby GT350H you specifically reserved (the H stands for Hertz).

A modified version of the Ford Mustang GT, this 300hp+ of a monster is the latest addition to the Hertz Fun Collection, a selection of cars that you can specifically reserve the make and model, a first in the car rental business. Those of you who were around in the 60s will recall the “Rent-A-Racer” program that allowed you to rent a Shelby while travelling; well, this is more of the same, and I love it.

Shelby has taken the 2006 Mustang, thrown on some go-fast and look-good goodies, and handed over 500 units to Hertz so that they can rent them out to you, the travelling car enthusiast. These cars should be available mid-May, at the following cities airports; Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
