This has got to be one of the most powerful television sets I’ve seen in the market for quite some time, specs-wise anyways, because the QuaNext from Quataris packs an Intel Pentium 4 processor and a 220 GGB hard drive, not to mention that it runs on a modified version of SUSE Linux. Yes, a TV that runs on Linux.

The Hong Kong-based company is releasing this 19-inch LCD TV that can quickly and easily double as your home computer, because all it takes is a simple press of a button on the remote to switch between the two modes. They’re saying it “would be ideal for the living room, bedroom or kitchen where a separate PC may not be easily accommodated.” The resolution is adequate at 1440 x 990 pixels, and you can pack up to 2 gigabytes of DDR RAM to keep things running smoothly.

Interestingly, this DVD player / computer / LCD TV combo unit has its CD/DVD drive on the top, meaning that dust, crumbs, and other particles can easily get themselves lodged in there and cause you to do a repair (or replacement) sooner than you’d want to. No word on pricing or availability.
