Every DAP (digital audio player) maker out there has their eyes set on Apple, because clearly Steve Jobs and friends are doing something right with the iPod line. Samsung’s YP-Z5 competes directly with the nano, and now the tiny unit is getting an upgrade that includes FM radio and voice recording – a couple of features that you won’t find on its Apple equivalent.
The new YP-Z5F (presumably the ‘F’ stands for FM radio) comes with 4 gigabytes of internal storage. That should be enough for you to shove up to 1000 decent quality tunes in there, but if that isn’t enough to whet your whistle, you can always tune in to your local deejays for some help on the FM dial. The voice recording function is fairly standard with a lot of DAPs these days, so it’s only fitting that this unit should include that as well.
Best of all, it comes in a pink-ish color for those of you searching for a different, more feminine look. No word on pricing or an exact release date, though the CNET review page is indicating that the Samsung YP-Z5F is “upcoming.”
