Samsung Wi-Fi/UMA-enabled T709 heading to T-Mobile
More Wi-Fi goodness is coming from none other than Samsung. The mobile phone giant is set to release the T709, a great looking handset that takes advantage of regular tri-band GSM (850/1800/1900 MHz) and EDGE connections, but adds Wi-Fi and UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) to the mix.
Set to be offered from T-Mobile, the slim (22mm) slider will allow for seamless network transitions between all those WLAN networks out there, helping you “get more from life”. Download high-quality content, surf the internet, and watch streaming video with few (if any) interruptions. The single screen is a 262K color display of unspecified size, the integrated camera sports a 1.3 megapixel imaging sensor and digital zoom, and yes, this thing will play your MP3s too. Strangely, there is no mention of Bluetooth connectivity, though there is a speakerphone on board.
Being showcased over in Las Vegas at the CTIA Wireless trade show, the Samsung T709 has yet to receive a firm launch date or price.
