Western Digital has been a recognized leader in hard drives for quite some time now, finding their way onto many a notebook and desktop computers. As if taking up all that valuable real estate inside our PCs wasn’t enough, WD wants to snatch up one of your USB ports too, with its 6GB Passport Pocket drive.

Inside the 6 x 4.5 x 0.9cm device, you’ll find a one-inch hard drive that spins round and round at 3600rpm. Because of its slower rotational speed, you won’t be able to access your data quite as fast as its larger brethren, but that’s the price you pay for a tiny form factor. WD is reporting a mean read seek time of 11ms. Connection is via USB 2.0 – no surprise here – with the port swivelling out of the way when not in use. Western Digital is saying that this is unique, but of course, we know better.

The asking price for the now available Western Digital 6GB Passport Pocket drive is $130.
