Altec Lansing iM9 – the SUV of iPod speakers

Altec Lansing has released a new set of iPod speakers so sturdy and durable that they are calling them the SUV of portable iPod speakers. I’m not quite sure what that is supposed to mean, but let’s go with it. The iM9 has a hardy shell and a backpack-style carrying case, so you can take it with you wherever you go without worrying about damaging it. A rear kickstand lets you slide it into any small space.

Its 11” x 7.8” x 3” and weighs four pounds. It is also compatible with any iPod and it also comes with an auxiliary input so you can use it with other audio devices as well, or to a TV for video use. The sound is kicked out through dual 2-3/4” drivers and 1” tweeters, along with MaxxBass technology.

You can power the iM9 with AC or 4 C batteries. They are supposed to ship by the end of this month and will cost $199.95.
