It wasn’t that long ago that a study concluded that in-ear headphones were a hazard to your ears’ health. Now, Apple is responding to that claim.
The iPod maker has introduced a software update for their wildly popular portable music players that allows for a maximum volume setting. No more worries about blowing out your ears.
Such a safeguard might go a long way toward alleviating a health concern that has resulted in widespread alarm, including a class action lawsuit in California. A study by the National Institute of Health is ongoing.
The update is available as a free download on Apple’s website.
