AwoX thinks that you should be able to use your WiFi Smart Phone for much more than just phone calls. Their latest application, MediaCTRL, lets you use your phone as a remote control. With the click of a button you can control the images you see on your TV and the music you hear on your stereo. It brings the power of Media Center to the palm of your hand. It even promises to make a mobile into a server to view images and files.

The setup for MediaCTRL sounds very simple. You just load it up onto your PC, sync your phone and hook up the components you want to control with cables or wirelessly. Everything else is done automatically using UPnP technology. The MediaCTRL software will be available from AwoX, the European hardware and software maker, in the second quarter of the year. The price has yet to be released.
