Coming this summer is the newest Compact Vault, an 8GB drive from Sony designed for your digital photography needs. It’s a huge increase over the current storage capacity version, which is “only” 5GB. It’s tiny, too, measuring 1.5″ wide and 1.5″ high.
For those counting images, that’s a total of 2,560 JPEG images that this tiny memory drive can hold. Or, thinking in video terms, that’s 320 minutes of MPEG4 playback. Transfer speeds can push 12MB a second.
The 8GB Compact Vault, which is compatible with Compact Flash type II slots, will retail for US$259.99 and, the manufacturer says, will be available for purchase in June.
