Just having a music phone just isn’t enough these days. You need to rock a multi-megapixel camera and a whole slew of other features before you’ll catch anyone’s attention. Samsung Electronics, the top cell phone manufacturer in Korea, is at it again, this time with the SGH-i310, a smartphone with an 8GB hard disk drive – the first of its kind.
Destined for Europe in the second half of this year, the SGH-i310 runs on the ever popular Windows Mobile 5.0, so all you’re favourite Windows programs – or at least the mobile versions of them – are right there at your fingertips. Of course, the 8-gigabyte hard drive, enough for 2000 songs, is a big selling point, but so is its music extras. Embedded are a digital power amp and dual speakers. It also supports Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), so you can make use of all those stereo BT headsets out there.
Other highlights include a 2 megapixel camera with flash, microSD for expansion, TV output, and high-quality video recording capabilities. Check out the Samsung booth at CeBIT later on this week for a demo of the SGH-i310.
