We’ve all been drooling over the E61 smartphone and its QWERTY keyboard sporting goodness since Nokia announced the handset last October. Well, it has finally been given the go-ahead by the FCC, so we should be expecting this 3G PDA phone State side very soon.
Touted as the Blackberry- or Treo-killer, Nokia’s E61 smartphone runs on the company’s Symbian OS 9.1, complete with S60 software, and it comes equipped with a joystick for navigation. As a business phone, it’s great that this handset comes with a quick-access email button. This quad-band GSM world phone strangely even supports WCDMA. The display is an adequate 320 x 240, 16-million color LCD.
The E61 tips the scales at a hefty 144 grams, measuring 117 x 69.7 x 14 mm. It’ll take miniSD cards for expansion. Yes, there’s voice dialing, voice commands, Push to Talk, Bluetooth, video and audio streaming, as well as tons of other goodies.
