The iTunes Music Store just surpassed the one billion downloads mark yesterday, and it seems that in an effort to keep a good thing going, Apple might start selling full-length movie downloads to appease all you iPod Video owners out there. No more settling for short music videos and snippits, because you just might soon be able to take the silver screen onto your iPod Video’s tiny screen, as it were. Rumour is that Apple will make the official announcement next week. Hopefully that’s not all they announce, a full-sized portable media player (PMP) would be just about right at this time.
American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu has gone on the record saying that the possibility of the iTunes Music Store selling full length movies is more than 50%. The addition of movies will certainly solidify the ITMS as a one stop content shop.
Steve Jobs and company have been experiencing exponential growth, with the iTunes Music Store coming up to its third birthday in about nine weeks. At this rate, industry experts are predicting that the 1.5 billion milestone will be achieved this summer, and 2 billion mark early next year.
