The New Oxford Annotated Bible is now available on handhelds and mobile phones.

The American company Handmark has launched the software for Palm, Treo, Windows Mobile Pocket PCs and smartphones. It includes not only the text of the Bible (based on the New Revised Standard Version) but also everything else that is in the hardcover version of the Bible, including commentary and annotations.

The mobile Bible also has a powerful tool that the print version does not: an onscreen toolbar that can access a full index, allowing split-second search for words, phrases, and specific verses. Users can even bookmarks words, phrases, or even whole sections of the Bible for frequent consultation.

The product is available now for download at Handmark’s website. Retail price is US$29.99. It only uses 4MB of RAM to operate.
