If you’re looking for an alternative to the bigger names like Verizon, Cingular or Sprint Nextel, you will soon have another option. Joining the ranks of Boost Mobile and other MVNOs, HELIO is set to launch some time this spring, and the company has got a couple of pretty radical handsets ready to go. Both come complete with Helio’s unique user interface, which has a fresh, almost cartoony feel to it.
The first of the two handsets is the black Hero. It seems like this re-badged Pantech phone comes with a 2.2-inch display, a 2.0-megapixel camera, and an internal antenna, as well as a slide-out keyboard for all your text messaging and emailing needs. Best of all, it comes with 3G compatibility. The white Kickflip is manufactured by VK Mobile. This swivelling phone is said to have a similar feature set as its Hero cousin.
MySpace is huge, and Helio has partnered up with them for email, messaging, and photo viewing. Helio is a joint venture between SK Telecom and Earthlink.
