Smallest WiFi solution yet!

Nanoradio AB, a Swedish semiconductor supplier has revealed a low power WiFi chipset today, the NRX700. A total size of only 20mm2. According to Nanoradio, this is the smallest WiFi chipset on the market yet. Size does’t always matter though, that’s why NRX700 is also claiming the lowest power consumption in the world.

If Nanoradio has their way, their chipset will be in our next-generation mobile phones, portable media players and other portable consumer devices. The explosion of VoIP has created a demand for technology like this, for manufacturers to integrate the most efficient components in their designs and offer consumers many more features in a small package.

The NRX700 will be sampling to manufacturers in Q3 2006, expect devices with this technology as early as 2007.
