HTC isn’t the only OEM PDA phone maker in town, and Tatung wants to make sure we know it. The company’s latest is the M1 smartphone, a candybar style handset that is running on – no surprise here – Windows Mobile 5.0. Powered by a 200 MHz OMAP processor, the M1 comes with 128MB of flash memory to go with its 64 MB of RAM.

Flip the phone over and it’s outrageously obvious that this handset is sporting a digital camera, but only one with a 1.3-megapixel sensor. I say if you’re going to make the cam stick out that much, it better be more than mediocre.

If you feel like getting your handsfree on, this handset will also take care of all your Bluetooth 1.2 needs, including A2DP. MiniSD is the expansion media here, and GPRS is about as high speed as it’s going to get; no EDGE.

Like HTC’s merchandise, the Tatung M1 Smartphone will likely never have the Tatung name on it when it hits the market, which is a shame because both companies produce some quality products.
