Pretty well everyone I know uses some version of Nero’s software for CD and DVD burning purposes, but I don’t think I’ve encountered anyone that makes use of the company’s media center packages. Maybe I just don’t know the right people, because the software maker is on the cusp of releasing Nero Mobile, a new software product designed for Smartphones and PDAs running on the Intel XScale processor.

They’re in Barcelona as I type this, demonstrating the new mobile multimedia center at the 3GSM World Congress. Nero Mobile is designed to be a complete multimedia package for mobile devices, encompassing online TV broadcasts and Internet radio, in addition to the standard browsing, organizing, and playing of photos, music, and videos. There’s some great codec support here, including MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 video, AAC v2 audio, and Ogg Vorbis formats.

To make things easy, Nero Mobile can connect directly to your home PC via programs like Nero MediaHome, streaming multimedia content to your mobile device. No word on pricing or launch dates.
