It’s almost as if it was built to be dropped.
Juniper Systems has just announced the release of the Archer Field PC. The unit’s tough design promises users uninterrupted computing even under extreme conditions. Proof of this is its IP67 and MIL-STD-810F certification. These two standards or benchmarks gauge the device’s ability to withstand shock, humidity, immersion, drop, and temperature.
The Archer Field PC’s casing is made out of magnesium. Its easy grip feature ensures that the user would be able to handle and operate it easily while moving. Meanwhile, its 17-ounce weight complements its portable 165×89x43 architecture. Processing power is provided by Intel’s 520 Mhz XScale PXA270 processor, and the unit runs on Windows Mobile 5.0.
Its ability to function under harsh conditions would be meaningless if its screen is not strong and clear enough to display the images and data right? Well, have no fear, its 3.5-inch TFT active LCD provides vivid illustrations or displays even when the lighting conditions are not good.
Memory capacity is at 64MB, while data storage is at 128MB via an internal flash disk. Memory and peripheral expansion, such as a camera and a GPS receiver, are possible through its covered CF and SDIO card slots. Its Li Ion battery allows 20 hours of computing time with just one charge.
