Portable DVD players are definitely falling behind in popularity now that smaller devices can do everything that they can. Mustek is trying to make them popular again with their new DTV407. Sure, it looks like a typical portable DVD player, but it adds in terrestrial digital TV reception for a nice little twist. The receiver can bring in DVB-T, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. You can store up to 1000 channels and it has an electronic programming guide. It comes with a mini-remote to pick and choose what you want to watch.
You can watch TV or DVDs on the 7-inch active matrix TFT screen. That’s much, much bigger than your cellphone screen, so this thing has something going for it. It can play DVDs, CDs, MP3s, and even JPEGs. It comes with a rechargeable battery, power adapter and cigarette lighter adapter. You can have one of your own for about $365.
