With the proliferation of mobile TV, many people are already getting tired of squinting in order to watch their favourite multimedia content on tiny 2-inch screens. Digislide has got a solution that can turn cell phones into portable projectors. In fact, the Digismart technology developed by the Australian company can be integrated into any number of handheld devices, including mobile phones, GPS devices, notebooks and portable video players.

Don’t expect to be running your sales presentation off of your Palm Treo just yet, however, as the miniature wide-angle lens won’t do any bigger than an 11×17-inch image from a distance of about three feet. In this way, it certainly has its applications – sharing your multimedia content with those around you – but of course, it has its limitations.

Digislide demonstrated the technology at this week’s Demo conference, and hopes to implement its Digismart projector solution into handheld devices and add-on components before year’s end.
