It’s like calling on paper…?
NEC is set to launch an extremely thin mobile phone at the 3GSM World Congress 2006 in Barcelona. Called the N500iS, it is said to be the thinnest 2.5G folding camera phone. Motorola’s v3 can’t even compare to it as the N500iS is 2mm thinner.
Roaming with the N500iS is convenient as it can operate in the 900, 1800, and 1900 band. Connectivity is via industry standards Bluetooth and USB, assuring users that they would have no problem in connecting components to it.
It supports a wide array of multimedia functions such as MP3+AAC-playing and MPEG4 video playback. Images and video are vividly displayed on a 1.9” 65k 176×220 pixel color TFT LCD. The unit also has an external OLED screen.
Its 64 polyphonic melodies enable it to play a variety of ringtones. Memory capacity is at 32MB. It also supports WAP, GPRS, and JAVA. Messaging capabilities include SMS, MMS, and EMS.
NEC has integrated an EDGE function in the N500iS.
This feature enables high-speed video streaming in real time on the unit.
NEC has yet to come up with the unit price, nor has the availability and market of the N500iS been identified. It is expected that the company would provide these details and other information after the show in Barcelona.
