A new scanner has taken PDF creation to a fine art of one-button shopping. Plustek, an American company known as being an industry leader in scanner manufacturing, has relseased the OpticSlim M12 Plus, a sheetfed scanner that sports cord-free, one-touch operation. Just load your page, click the button, and away it scans.

The ultraslim device connects to a computer via USB 1.1, eliminating the need for a power cord. It allows scanning of both images and text, with 176 languages of OCR support. Plustek promises a high-quality result (up to 600 dpi and 48-bit color) and single-or multiple-file options. Further, no specific operating system or application are needed.

Pages from A4 up to legal size can be scanned at a rate of three a minute. The M12 Plus sells for $US179. Accessories (a mount kit, base stand, and carrying pouch) are also available.
