NEC Computers has just released a new laptop designed for the corporate user.
The Versa S950 sports the basics in terms of processing power. The unit incorporates the latest Intel Centrino mobile technology and is running on an Intel Pentium M processor. The S950 also features an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG. Display size is at 14 inches and supports DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM.
Perhaps the most remarkable feature that the Versa S950 has is its security features. It has the Kensington Lock Slot and anti-theft cable. Users may also opt for the fingerprint security lock. The laptop also has a TPM chip and a Stoptrack anti-theft protection label. Data protection is further ensured courtesy of NEC’s Safeboot solution.
Users have a multitude of choices when it comes to connectivity. Online access is via Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and a V.92 modem. It has three USB 2.0 slots for easy connection to devices or peripherals. It also has the other industry standards such as Bluetooth, Gigabit LAN, infrared, and FireWire, sorry folks no EV-DO. A card reader is also consolidated on the unit. Connecting to office devices is easy with the S950’s port replicator.
NEC has the business user’s mobility in mind when it designed the unit. The laptop weighs only 2 kg and boasts a battery mileage of up to 6 hours.
The price for the new NEC laptop starts at £699 or $1250 USD.
