If you are reading this you’re probably a bit of a tech junkie. That means you are probably at least a little interested in the launch of Helio, the much-talked about MVNO. The new Brand, which is a marriage between Korean telecom giant SK Telecom and Earthlink, will bring high end phones that normally don’t make it out of Asian markets to American consumers. We’ve been hearing about it for a long time, but we should finally see it in March or April of this year. We also have our first hint of the phones they will be offering.

We’ve been teased by a phone from Pantech with the code name ‘Hero’. We still don’t know much about it. The VK650C will target the more budget conscious users with semi-automatic slide and swing design, tons of external memory, dual speakers and a 2.2 inch TFT LCD screen. More exciting is word that they have requested a special handset from Samsung. It won’t be available until a couple of months after the Hero, but it should be worth the wait. The last bone they have thrown us to keep us excited is that the phones will be equipped with W-LAN for the U.S. market which they do not have in Korea.
