One of the latest gadgets to come along in the pet control market is the Scraminal, which manufacturer Amtek also calls the Pet Behavior Controller.

This handy, fit-in-the-hand device has a button that when pushed, emits a number of short high-pitched beeps that effectively create a barrier around the device. The device can be placed right next to fine china or heirlooms or other things that you don’t want the family cat or dog to destroy, heat an motion sensors will do the rest. If Fluffy or Sparky tries to enter the “protection zone,” he will be shocked with a deafening BEEEEP!

Amtek touts the barrier as being three feet in diameter, giving your heirlooms plenty of space to survive intended intrusions from pets and, perhaps, even inquisitive children (or adults).

And the company is quick to point out that the Scraminal has positive uses as well. Cats, for instance, are known to like to take naps on warm stoves. If you leave something cooking on the stove, go ahead and plop the Scraminal on the stove as well and your cat won’t get a hot surprise.

The Scraminal sells for US$69.95 at most pet outlets, including Amtek’s own website.
