For me, a notebook computer is meant to be as portable as possible. For others, a laptop is a mobile desktop computer — for playing Counterstrike — and having true surround sound may seem like a lost cause. Not so, says Turtle Beach. Now you can take advantage of watching your favourite Hollywood action flick with 5.1, or even 7.1 surround sound to accompany your 13-inch laptop. Okay, maybe you might want a bigger screen in this case.

The Roadie is the latest in Turtle Beach’s Audio Advantage family, known for its reasonably priced yet surprisingly high quality products. Simply find a free USB port on your notebook and you’re good to go. The device is powered from your computer, so there’s no messing with an AC adapter. It may not be the prettiest of devices, but it seems like the Roadie might work on both PCs and MACs.

Pop in a DVD, frag some terrorists, or jam away to your favourite tunes in glorious 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound for a mere $79.95.
